Compact extraction units are systems for the extraction of dust and production waste in various industries. The extraction units in the HKU series from Hunkeler Systeme AG are flexible and are suitable for extracting production waste, milling dust or dust-laden air in the printing and packaging industries. HKUs can be used both as stand-alone extraction units and in conjunction with additional components as fully-fledged extraction systems.

In both cases, the HKU compact extraction units use a vacuum to extract production waste and dust at the point of origin in the production process, transport it through a piping system into a separator or the integrated filter unit and collect it. The HKUs then clean the process air in the inbuilt filter units and exhaust the clean process air out into the environment. In this way, compact extraction units not only keep the production lines in operation but also ensure a safe and clean working environment and contribute to a healthy working environment for employees.

The compact extraction units HKU1500-B and HKU4510-B are compact extraction units with material silos and discharge devices suitable for shredded banknotes or similar free-flowing materials with a maximum particle size of 250 mm². The antistatic filter elements separate the material from the process air, filter the dust from the air and are automatically cleaned during operation. Rotary valves convey the material into one (HKU 1500) or two (HKU 4510) integrated and level-monitored containers. Production does not have to be interrupted while the containers are being emptied. In addition to a container, the HKU4510-B-RB compact extraction unit can also be equipped with an additional briquette press. The briquette press compacts the extracted material and, by reducing the volume, ensures a higher degree of automation and reduces disposal costs.

These compact extraction units can be equipped with an energy-saving system for regulating the extraction power and with an automatic extinguishing system for fire protection.

The HKU 2000-N compact extraction unit is an extraction unit equipped with a buffer system. A built-in slider system allows the operator to change full containers while the machine is running and without switching off the production machine. The HKU 2000-N is suitable for the extraction of paper cuttings and dust and can be optionally equipped with an integrated shredding unit for the extraction of endless trims. HKU 2000-N are a compact, mobile extraction and filter units that operates completely under negative pressure. Inbuilt filter unit cleans the dust-laden air and the integrated fan exhausts the air back into the production environment. Paper cuttings and dust are collected in an integrated, large-volume container.

The antistatic filter elements are cleaned automatically using an electric vibration mechanism. The HKU 2000-N control unit automatically initializes cleaning as required when the system is at a standstill. Built-in sensors check the filling level of the waste collection container and a light signal visually communicates the system status of the compact extraction unit to the operator.

The HKU 2000-N has standardized interfaces to production systems from different manufacturers and is suitable for the extraction of cross-cutting and slitting modules in digital inline print finishing lines.

The HKS-4500 compact extraction system is a compact, vacuum-operated extraction system equipped with a pre-separator. It is ideal for extracting production waste such as paper and cardboard cuttings, continuous strips, milling dust and punching waste. The pre-separator of the HKS-4500 separates the material from the dusty process air and fills the production waste into any container system. The filling level of the containers is monitored and the system informs the operator when a container change is due. Like the HKU 2000-N, the HKS-4500 is also equipped with a buffer system. This system enables the operator to change containers without having to switch off production systems.

With the HKS-4500, a HKU 4500 compact extraction unit takes over the task of the actual extraction and generates the vacuum for the material transport. The HKU 4500 filters the dust-laden air and blows it back into the production environment and the fine, suspended dust is collected in the containers of the HKU.

The HKS-4500 compact extraction system works with all commercially available container systems and does not require the purchase of expensive special containers. In contrast to the HKU 2000-N compact extraction system, HKS-4500 compact extraction systems can extract several production lines simultaneously. An energy-saving system makes the HKS-4500 even more powerful and energy-efficient.
