Features and applications of our shredders
Shredders and other shredders are often the first machines used in the processing of residual materials. With them, it is possible to bring coarse material in different sizes into a uniform shape. In this way, it is optimally prepared for further processing. Hunkeler has a range of shredding solutions for a wide variety of tasks in its product line.
What types of waste materials can be processed with shredders?
Shredders are characterized by their multifunctionality. Thus, Hunkeler also has shredding solutions for different materials in its range. Among other things, they process:
- Paper
- Garbage
- Wood
- Bulky waste
- Plastics and plastic waste
- Banknotes
- Electric waste
The shredders are expressly designed for very coarse materials and also different sizes of residual materials. These bring the shredders to a homogeneous size, which can be between 30 and 400 millimeters.
What are the advantages of shredding?
A clear advantage of this form of shredding technology is that materials of a wide variety of sizes and shapes can be processed. The shredders then reduce the material to a uniform size. You can also use these machines for regranulation. This facilitates further processing of the residual materials. Likewise, the shredding significantly reduces the volume. This also makes storage and transport more economical.
These features make shaft shredders and similar solutions suitable for use in a wide variety of applications. These are some examples where shredding technology from Hunkeler is used:
- Plastics Industry
- Recycling companies
- Industry and trade for in-house recycling
For this purpose, the shredding solutions from Hunkeler have an energy-saving drive concept called Eco Drive. Compared to conventional electro-hydraulic drives, this reduces energy consumption by up to 50 percent.
The single-shaft shredders type XR/LRK
Practical examples show the application possibilities and advantages of the single-shaft shredders XR/LRK from Hunkeler. You can use this series for coarse and medium shredding. They are designed for waste, sweepings and waste wood. Altola AG in Zuchwil, for example, uses such a system for shredding waste wood.
Here, 32,000 tons of waste wood of various types are processed annually. This wood becomes fuel for industry. The requirements are correspondingly high. The material was to be shredded in a cutting manner. A uniform grain spectrum without large outliers was desired. Hunkeler solved this problem with a Class XR single-shaft shredder. In addition, the XR3000C proved to be more energy-efficient than the previous solution.
